Power in Motion: Assessing the Strategic Role of Dynamic Charging for Electric Trucks

14:00 - 16:00 CET, REKK Energy Futures

21 of April, - online

Decarbonizing long-haul road freight remains one of the greatest challenges in the energy transition. While battery electric vehicles are a key part of the solution, the weight of massive batteries, the time required for charging, and the extensive infrastructure demands of high-power static charging remain significant hurdles for heavy-duty transport.

Electric Road Systems (ERS) offer a complementary approach by providing energy to vehicles while they are in motion. By integrating dynamic charging into key corridors, there is a potential to optimize battery sizes, reduce charging downtime, and better manage peak loads on the electricity grid, acting as a strategic extension of the heavy-duty charging infrastructure.

While “electric roads” are already being tested in real life in Paris and Bavaria, the professional dialogue in Hungary is only just beginning to pick up steam. At our workshop, we will examine the latest trends, present international pilot projects, and discuss the role ERS can play in the freight transport ecosystem of the future.
