The deviation between the Hungarian statistical figures of forest biomass supply and consumption – the difference valued roughly at 70 bn HUF – is known for a long time. The recalculation of firewood volume used by households, now based on consumption statistics, modifies the renewable consumption share of Hungary significantly so that the 2020 renewable target is basically met as of today. Consequently, the main motivation behind the support of new renewable capacities is apparently lost.
