Az együttműködés célja a visegrádi országok kutatóközpontjai közötti kooperáció erősítése az energiaszektorban, valamint az akadémiai szféra és a döntéshozók közötti párbeszéd előmozdítása ezen a területen. Ennek érdekében a REKK (Regionális Energia- és Infrastruktúra-politikai Együttműködésért Alapítvány) koordinátorként, három külföldi partner - az SFPA (Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association), az Instytut Jagielloński és az AMO (Association for International Affairs, Prague) - együttműködésével kezdeményezte a V4 Energy Think Tank Platform (V4ETTP) elindítását, mint egy állandó energia-fókuszú együttműködés létrehozását, amely 2018 óta működik.
V4ETTP egy platform egy olyan állandó hálózat, amely regionális fókuszú, energiával kapcsolatos és szakpolitika-orientált kutatást és elemzést végez, a résztvevő kutatóközpontok energiapiaci tapasztalataira építve. A V4ETTP célja strukturált együttműködés folytatása a V4 kormányzatok képviselőivel az energia, az energetikai diplomácia és a klímavédelem területein, valamint a közép-európai térség nyitottságának érdekében - amennyiben a tagok elfogadják és egyetértenek - harmadik országok kutatói és kormányzati szintű képviselőinek bevonása a diskurzusokba.
A Platform olyan energiapolitikai kérdésekkel foglalkozik, amelyek adott időpontban különösen relevánsak a régió számára.
Az együttműködés keretében 3-4 rövid policy paper készül minden évben, ezen kívül az együttműködés résztvevőinek 2-4 workshop keretében van alkalmuk megvitatni az aktuális energiapiaci kihívásokat.
